Quick Start:
- Open any scorecard (Nassau, Medal, etc.)
- Click the đ¤ microphone button in the header
- The button will turn đĄ yellow - waiting for wake word
- Say "Hey Pro" to activate command mode
- The button will turn đ´ red - now you can give commands!
- After 5 seconds of silence, it returns to yellow mode automatically
đĄ Tip: You need an internet connection for voice commands to work (uses Azure Speech Service).
đą Mobile Users: Keep your screen on during voice input for best results.
Choose the activation mode that works best for your playing style:
1. Wake Word Mode (Default):
- Say "Hey Pro" to activate command mode
- Mic button turns from yellow đĄ to red đ´
- Give commands, then system returns to wake word mode after 5 seconds of silence
- Best for: Battery conservation and avoiding accidental commands
2. Push-to-Talk Mode:
- Hold the PTT button đī¸ (appears when you select this mode)
- Speak while holding the button
- Release when done - no wake word needed!
- Best for: Very noisy environments (windy days, busy courses)
3. Continuous Mode:
- Always listening - just start talking
- No wake word needed - system continuously recognizes commands
- Mic button stays red đ´ constantly
- Best for: Rapid score entry with minimal interaction
- Warning: Uses more battery on mobile devices
đĄ Change modes: Go to Voice Settings â Voice Activation Mode
Our voice recognition system includes several advanced features to improve accuracy:
đ§ Adaptive Learning System:
- Learns Your Voice: The system adapts to your unique pronunciation patterns over time
- Name Disambiguation: Intelligently distinguishes between similar-sounding names (John/Don, Pete/Heat, Pat/Matt)
- Automatic Correction: When you manually correct a misheard name, the system learns and improves
- Confidence Tracking: Tracks recognition accuracy per player and improves with each use
- Gets Better Over Time: The more you use voice commands, the better the system becomes!
đ Voice Calibration:
- Custom Pronunciations: Train the system exactly how YOU pronounce each player's name
- Calibration Process: Say each name 3-5 times for optimal recognition accuracy
- Stored Per Player: Calibrations are saved to your account and sync across all devices
- Test Recognition: Verify calibration accuracy with a test mode before playing
- Update Anytime: Recalibrate if recognition accuracy drops
đĄ Access Calibration: Voice Settings â Calibrate Player Names
đī¸ Ambient Noise Handling:
- Microphone Threshold: Adjust sensitivity from -60dB (very sensitive) to -5dB (less sensitive)
- Real-Time Adjustment: Use the slider in the scorecard header to adjust on-the-fly
- Noise Gate: Automatically filters out background noise, wind, cart sounds, and crowd chatter
- On-Course Optimized: Specifically tuned for outdoor golf course conditions
- Adaptive Volume Boost: Automatically increases TTS (text-to-speech) volume in noisy environments
đĄ Adjust Threshold: Use the đī¸ Mic slider in the scorecard header or Voice Settings page
đĸ Adaptive Volume Boost:
- Auto-Detection: Monitors ambient noise levels continuously
- Dynamic Adjustment: Increases TTS volume up to 400% when background noise is detected
- Smooth Transitions: Volume changes gradually to avoid jarring adjustments
- Toggle On/Off: Enable/disable in the scorecard header or Voice Settings
đ Note: Adaptive Boost works independently of the manual volume slider - you can use both together!
Using Player Names:
- "John score four" - Sets John's score to 4
- "Don five" - Sets Don's score to 5 (word "score" is optional)
- "Sarah score three" - Sets Sarah's score to 3
⨠Enhanced: System now better distinguishes similar names like John/Don and Pete/Heat using context and adaptive learning!
Using Player Numbers:
- "Player one score four" - Sets Player 1's score to 4
- "Player two five" - Sets Player 2's score to 5
đĄ Tip: Use first names for easier recognition. The system automatically maps player names and learns your pronunciation patterns.

đ Cross-Device Sync:
All settings, calibrations, and adaptive learning data are saved to your account and automatically sync across all your devices (phone, tablet, desktop). Changes take effect immediately without needing to reload the page!
- â Say "Hey Pro" before each set of commands (unless in Continuous mode)
- â Speak clearly and at normal pace (not too fast or slow)
- â Wait for confirmation after each command before giving the next one
- â Use first names for easier recognition (e.g., "John" instead of "John Smith")
- â Calibrate player names before your first round for best accuracy
- â Adjust the microphone threshold slider in the header if commands aren't being heard or too much background noise is picked up
- â Enable Adaptive Volume Boost on windy or noisy courses
- â Use Push-to-Talk mode in very loud environments (cart paths, near clubhouse)
- â The system learns from your corrections - keep using it and it gets better!
- â ī¸ Requires internet connection (uses Azure Speech Service)
- đą On mobile devices, keep your screen on during voice input
- đ Voice input uses more battery on mobile - use strategically or bring a charger
Microphone button not responding:
- Ensure you've granted microphone permissions in your browser
- Check that no other app is using your microphone
- Try refreshing the page
- Verify your internet connection
Player names not recognized correctly:
- â Go to Voice Settings â Calibrate Player Names
- â Say each player's name 3-5 times exactly how you pronounce it
- â The system will learn and improve with each correction you make
- â Check the Adaptive Learning Logs to see confidence scores
- â For similar names (John/Don), the system uses context to disambiguate
Commands not recognized:
- Make sure you said "Hey Pro" first (button should be red đ´) unless in Continuous mode
- Speak more clearly or adjust your microphone position
- Check for background noise interference - adjust microphone threshold
- Try increasing the idle timeout in Voice Settings
Too much background noise picked up:
- â Increase Microphone Threshold (slide right toward -5dB)
- â Use Push-to-Talk mode for maximum control
- â Enable Adaptive Volume Boost for louder TTS responses
- â The noise gate automatically filters wind, carts, and crowd noise
System not hearing you (too quiet):
- â Decrease Microphone Threshold (slide left toward -60dB)
- â Speak closer to your device's microphone
- â Check your device's microphone isn't blocked or damaged
Voice feedback too fast/slow:
- Go to Voice Settings and adjust the Speech Rate
- Lower values = slower speech, higher values = faster speech
Can't hear voice responses:
- Check your device volume is turned up
- Adjust Output Volume in Voice Settings (try 200-400% for outdoor use)
- Enable Adaptive Volume Boost for automatic adjustment
- Verify Enable Voice Prompts is turned ON in Voice Settings
System picks up its own voice:
- Lower your device volume
- Use headphones if available
- The system has built-in echo prevention, but very high volumes can cause feedback
đĄ Still having issues? Try recalibrating player names and check the Adaptive Learning Logs in Voice Settings to see what the system is learning.
